yes kaffy is coming to juras today to get it from me. you come too. i not seen you all year.

why not anyone ever ask me to play noises with them. i only get asked to join punk bands. will i forever be “luke subvert”?

on the sub bass, i can teach you but i have to charge. also, while my parents have been away i switched the computer speakers around. i can actuall hear bass now!!

and… fuck happyland and early regurgitator were awesome. i only just listen to it now. seriously, you know how for new years they did all them “decade in review” bullshits? the ’00s is when semi-mainstream australian music got kinda fucked up. or just a little bit more boring. or maybe i just didn’t care. at least i got a youtube full of recovery videos to watch that i was too young for at the time. and the ’00s had a distinct lack of stage costumes in the last decade. the ’90s had sonicanimation, gerling, tism and happyland all wearing silly costumes. i think i need to do a history research project into ’90s australian music. i’ll make it into a zine with interviews with people like youz thawz and karli from ssk and john irish and everyone else i’ve discovered who was all up in that shit over ten years ago.

New Years Resolution: travel. travel overseas.

oh that’s a good one. except, how will you get overseas? despite being scientific marvels, planes are pretty heinous on the environmental front. will your airline carrier plant some trees on your behalf? maybe there will be an abstract “carbon neutral” option you can choose only for an extra $70 where various carbon neutralising activities will be undertaken by the good people of jetstar or whoever, just like when westpac pays their staff to do charity stuff. if only we could teleport, but there would probably still be energy problems there. ah nothin comes for free, not even sci-fi transport miracles.

hey simon, you can fight me when you see me.

if it makes any difference(?) the sum total of my flying experience is from tamworth to sydney and back, twice. i’m not sure about airline carbon offsets, i’ll have to read up on what each one actually does.
kind of half-thinking of the overland trans-siberian express option (i’m planning on going to Croatia to hang out with my best friend and his grandma). but to be honest i’m not sure how long i can afford to spend getting there and still have time to see things and hang out before i have to come back again due to job, rent, band etc. At the very least i should just fly to somewhere in Europe and then train it from there and avoid short-hop flights, which are the worst.
        can you say “cop out”?
meh, the whole reason it’s a new year’s resolution is that i’m actually really scared/intimidated by the idea of overseas travel. so i’m just trying to force myself to do it.

ps i want teleports all the time! or at least spiderman webslinging powers so i don’t have to wait for the bus.

      • 8. thaws  |  January 27, 2010 at 11:11 pm

        hey simon,
yeah waiting for the bus sucks. waiting for the train sucks too. unless you don’t have anywhere to be, and you have yourself a good book.

oh and about flying, ignore me. you should travel lots and overcome your fear with the help and friendship of strangers you meet along the way! luke reminded me that my cynical ramblings had a bodgy boycott politics vibe so i almost entirely retract the connotations, altho not the ramblings themselves.
*is able to control connotations of words*
        *pretty much has ultimate power*
i will call myself, THE DENOTATRIX!
:::confusion reigns, as the streets fill with garbled conversations, the people strain to communicate as they are restricted to literal interpretations of each other’s words. it must be the denotatrix! can connotation man save the day? no! cos he’s a jerk anyways!::: oh shit ignore me.

haha i don’t check your site often enough.
        coupla things:

        1) on further consideration and research, carbon offsets are incredibly fucked up and i want no part in them. eg: http://aidwatch.org.au/news/they-seem-too-good-to-be-true-%E2%80%94-and-they-are
        FARK.

        2) on the other side of that equation, i have booked my ticket and got my passport and everything yay!

        3) i finally watched that Live at Bar Open DVD today and realised that half the things i liked about Ohana’s last album were very very influenced by youse guys.

Sorry I missed this gig, mostly for my sake 😦 hope it was rad.
Resolutions include no drinking and no caffeine. Employment probably wouldn’t hurt me, but getting a jon is not a NY resolution for the year, it’s a problem for right now! haha.

      hey dillon,
no sweat on the gig – we were okaaayy. our buddhist chanting was not apexing like it was the other day 😦

i hope things are ok where you are!!!

ah man your resolutions are tough. i keep drinking coffee as something to do. very silly.

aarrggh getting a job is so hard right now. i know coles was looking for a full-time cheese specialist, hahaha, but that was a while ago so you may have missed out on a golden opportunity!!!! easyway was looking for people, but you have to send them a “personal photo”, probably so they can check whether or not you’re an attractive young asian girl. get thee to a sticker photo booth and pump up the peace signs!! they are my job hunting tips for the day.

      see you soon?

hope I see you soon, though I’m not out and about in Sydney as much as I’d like thesee days 😦
